POGGIOREALE

Poggioreale stands at 250m asl in the province of Trapani. It totals about 2.000 inhabitants. The new town is comprised of three large quarters lying at different levels, each one developing around its own main piazza.

At a close distance, 393m asl stands the ancient site of Poggioreale, a farming hamlet founded in the 1600s by Francesco Morso. Of this old settlement, only few traces of the original chess-board plan are still discernible.
