VENETICO
Venetico is a town of about 3,200 inhabitants
located in the province of Messina.
It was a
holding of the Spatafora family since the 15th century. In the city
surroundings is a 1400’s castle, comprised of a fortress and round towers at
each of its four corners. The residential floor of the fortress is in a poorest
condition; one of its rooms still preserve the remains of a 1500’s flooring.
Nearby stands the Chiesa Madre, containing interesting works such as a
1800’s painting of Saint Nicholas, a 1600’s Our Lady or the Rosary,
and a 1600’s marble figure representing Saint Catherine.
