Aci Bonaccorsi, about 2,500 inhabitants and
362m a.s.l., is a town in the province of Catania. Its economy is mainly
agricultural, with outstanding outputs of citrus fruits, cheese and grapes.
The city sprang from the joining of a number of
villages, namely Paoli, Leoni and Battiati, and a country area that gave it its
name. An ancient settlement is recorded on the area around 1170. Belonged to
the Princes of Campofiorito since the 14th century, in 1625 it
passed to the Marquise Dianas who owned as far as the feudalism abolishment in
1812. The Chiesa della Consolazione, with notable 1700’s
frescoes, and the 1952’s Fountain, are worth-visiting.
