The Province of Caltanissetta

The province comprises twenty-two cities totalling an extension of 2,128.20 square kilometres. Caltanissetta is much frequented by tourists, notably over Easter period, here celebrated with a series of long-waited events such as two processions taking place on Maundy Wednesday and Thursday – this one known as the Procession delle Vare. The city offers sites of both historical and naturalistic interest as well as a much appreciated cuisine where especially renowned is the sweet almond torrone.
