ALESSANDRIA DELLA ROCCA
The city of Alessandria della Rocca is located
in the Agrigento province. It was founded in the late 1500s, formerly named
Alessandria della Pietra. It derives its current name from a shrine dedicated
to the Virgin of the Rocca standing nearby. It offers such renowned attractions
as the Church of the Carmine and, attached to it, the Convent of the
Carmelitan Fathers, the 1600’s Church of Maria del Pilar, the 1700’s
Church of the Immacolata (or of the Virgin) and, adjacent, the Convento
dei Padri Minori Riformati.
